Mike Gordon, the president of Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool's owners, has revealed that it took just one phone call with Jurgen Klopp for him to be convinced on appointing the German.
Klopp has transformed Liverpool into one of the best sides in Europe since his arrival in 2015, and led the Reds to their sixth European cup last season.
Gordon was persuaded to contact Klopp after watching Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund thrive under his guidance.
"Analytically, [Dortmund] stacked up very well relative to expected performance," FSG chief Gordon said.
"I called Jürgen. We had an extraordinary conversation, and it was pretty clear to me by the time I hung up that he was the right person."
After a meeting in America, Gordon's initial thoughts were reaffirmed - with Klopp later signing a three-year deal with the Anfield club.
"We arranged a meeting in New York City, had a lengthy discussion late one night and the following day, and it was very straightforward," Gordon explained. "This was the perfect choice.”
With Liverpool looking set to end their 30-year wait for a league title this season, Klopp will undoubtedly go down as one of the best managers in Premier League history.
But Gordon believes that Klopp's intelligence goes beyond football, and claimed that the former Mainz defender could excel in another profession outside the game.
“He's a polymathematical guy,” Gordon added. “I spent 30 years as an investor speaking to some of the best CEOs in the world, and Jürgen is right up there with them.
"If he wasn't managing a football club, he could be managing a Fortune 500 company.”

I can't for the life of me fathom how dumb , unprofessional ,clueless and visionless some of the leadership decisions made by CAF are?. What are the reasons why they're reverting to the January calendar for the AFCON.? It simply does not make sense. All the leadership of CAF are really interested in is how to misappropriated resources for their own parochial interests. They don't think of the welfare of young African players plying their trade in Europe and elsewhere in the world. Like Klopp is saying he'll be forced to drop the idea of bringing in African players to Liverpool. Why are they changing a hitherto popular decision from the January date to June? Given the rugged nature of the African game where referees do less to protect players a June date (when most leagues in Europe and elsewhere are on recess) will enable injured players to heal in time for the resumption of the new leagues in Europe and elsewhere . I'll strongly advice African football professionals playing their trade in Europe and other parts of the world to form a pressure group (association) to put forward their petition to CAF to reconsider the January date to June. National Associations must also say something about this awkward fixing of dates for the AFCON. We're sick and tired of this erratic indecision if the continent's football governing body. God bless us

Listening to his press conference's more, u can say that the guy has got a very unique way/approach of analyzing situations and that, makes sure he has got the right team to implement both on and off field agenda. His ways of also motivating stuff n team goes beyond materialism, which is he ensures that u feel a part or feel like u are a part of the process but not just an ordinary worker who doesn't go unnotice. I love the dude cos even I, a supporter from afar feel that am appreciated by a coach miles and miles away from me. If he were to be a CEO everybody would love to work with him cos he is sooo capable to maximize ur talent and potential from mediocre to the very top notch professional. Thanks Klopp
