Probable line-ups: Real Madrid vs. Atalanta

Real Madrid have Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema back, whilst Atalanta seem set to start with Matteo Pessina in the middle.

Los Blancos lead 1-0 after the first leg in Bergamo, when La Dea had Remo Freuler sent off after 17 minutes.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini must find a way to replace the Swiss midfielder in Madrid and mount a comeback at the Alfredo di Stefano.

Compared to the first leg, Real Madrid have key players like Ramos and Benzema back in the line-up, expected to start in a 3-5-2 formation.

Thibaut Courtois should have Raphael Varane, Ramos and Nacho Fernandez ahead of him in defence, with Lucas Vazquez at right and the match winner form the first leg Ferland Mendy at left.

Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are expected in the middle, with Rodrygo next to Benzema up front.

Gasperini said the Orobici are not going to change their style in the big match, but continue to cope without Hans Hateboer.

Marco Sportiello should start in goal, with Berat Djimsiti recovered and ready to start with Rafael Toloi and Cristian Romero in the back-three.

Joakim Maehle will continue at right in Hateboer’s absence, with Robin Gosens at left. Marten de Roon seems certain to continue in the middle, where he will be joined by Pessina, as the attacking midfielder is brought back a joint to fill the void left by Freuler.

Mario Pasalic scored twice in the 3-1 win over Spezia last weekend and should start behind the Colombian duo Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata.
