Rabiot's mother clashes with the families of Pogba and Mbappe

France's suffered a shock exit from Euro 2020 at the last-16 stage after a penalty shootout defeat to Switzerland on Monday evening.

On what was a difficult night for the France team on the pitch, it seems that all was not well either in the stands, specifically amongst the families of certain players.

According to RMC Sport, Adrien Rabiot's mother, Veronique Rabiot, clashed with the families of Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe at full time.

As Mbappe's decisive penalty was saved, Veronique Rabiot approached the families of Pogba and Mbappe, with a number of incendiary comments, such as questioning how Pogba had given the ball away in the build-up to Switzerland's third goal.

She then went up to Mbappe's father, telling him to teach his son to be less arrogant, with these comments provoking a furious row.

The tension on the pitch went into the stands

The clash in the stands followed a similar clash on the pitch following Switzerland's 90th-minute equaliser, courtesy of Mario Gavranovic.

Pogba's failure to retain the ball prompted a frustrated reaction from Adrien Rabiot, who threw up his hands in disgust, before an argument broke out between the pair which had to be broken up by Didier Deschamps.

Deschamps had to intervene

Deschamps went on to state at full time that he had to calm the tense situation down with extra time still to play.

"I had to calm it down a little," said Deschamps.

"We had to stay calm, because there was still extra time to play."
