Raiola: 'Haaland is not similar to Lukaku'

Agent Mino Raiola said Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘should focus on Paul Pogba’ and added that Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland can't be compared with Inter forward Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku left Manchester United ahead of 2019-20 and the Red Devils were among the Europan giants who wanted Braut Haaland when the Norwegian left RB Salzburg in January 2020.

The Norway international, who was linked with Juventus last winter too, has continued to impress after his move to Borussia Dortmund.

Raiola pointed to the United coach’s comments about Haaland after he had scored four goals in one game for Molde FK, when he compared the youngster to the former United forward Lukaku.

Solskjaer also commented on Haaland’s continued success last week and in an interview with Tuttosport, Raiola responded to the the Norwegian coach.

Raiola, who revealed Pogba is ‘not happy in Manchester’ said Solskjaer would be better off focusing on getting the most out of the French World Cup winner.

“Solskjaer is a good guy, but Haaland isn’t similar to Lukaku at all,” Raiola told Tuttosport. “The only thing they have in common is the shirt number: No 9.

“I have never seen a centre-forward as mature as Erling at his age, maybe only Ronaldo the phenomenon and Zlatan.

“Erling is like Ibra at 20. He has the same desire to work and to become the best. Solskjaer, instead of comparing Haaland to Lukaku, should think about how he can make Pogba play like a champion.”

About the youngster’s future at Dortmund, Raiola provided an update on his transfer situation in Germany.

“I can’t talk about Haaland’s release clause. Rumours say Real Madrid want him? This is not new to me… but he’s very happy at Borussia Dortmund.

“Erling wants to win the Champions League. When he’ll leave the club, it will be for his ambition and not for money.”
