Aaron Ramsdale's father has hit back at Jamie Carragher after the Sky Sports pundit claimed he was 'laughing' at the Arsenal goalkeeper on Sunday afternoon.
Ramsdale was an unused substitute during the Gunners' 2-2 draw with rivals Tottenham, with summer signing David Raya being preferred to the England international.
And, despite the fact he may be losing out on his No.1 spot at the Emirates, Ramsdale showed a heap of support for his team-mate during the tense North London Derby.
One instance of that came after a brilliant stop from Raya denied Tottenham's Brennan Johnson from levelling the score in the first-half.
The cameras then cut to show Ramsdale's reaction from the bench, with the former Sheffield United star seen clapping with his hands aloft and smiling.
During post-match analysis, on Sky, Carragher said: 'I thought it was like the Oscars, you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person. I was laughing when I saw that. He's absolutely devastated with that really.'
Later that evening, Nick Ramsdale replied to a Tweet about Carragher's comments and said: 'You are a Disgrace!! Show some class!! My lad has'.
Another prominent online commentator, Lawrence Bury, also Tweeted the same clip of Ramsdale's reaction and wrote: 'Embarrassing from Ramsdale'.
The goalkeeper's father replied to the post, this time with a blunter message, as he wrote: 'D***'.
Prior to the game, Arsenal boss Arteta explained his decision to drop Ramsdale to the bench was due to how the Gunners wanted 'to play on the day'.
Arteta previously stated he intends to switch between the two Premier League goalkeepers and even suggested he is considering changing shot-stoppers midgame if he feels tactics require him to do so.
However, a trend is beginning to emerge with Raya appearing to have ousted Ramsdale for the meantime, and Arteta admitted he had a 'call' to make before kick-off at the Emirates.
‘It’s trying to play the way we want to play on the day. I made some calls and left some players on the bench,' the Arsenal manager said on Sky Sports.
In the end, Raya was helpless to prevent Tottenham from scoring two on the day and earning a point in the derby.
The hosts opened the scoring through a deflected Bukayo Saka strike before Spurs captain Son Heung-Min levelled the scoring just before the break.
The Gunners restored their lead shortly after half-time, when a Cristian Romero hand-ball saw the hosts earn a penalty and Saka convert his second of the game.
But the visitors fired back just one minute later after James Maddison picked the pocket of Jorginho to set up Son for his second of the match.

Well, whatever it was credit to Ramsdale for the sportsmanly behavior. At least we saw that Raya didn't pass his first biggest test of the season. Truth us Arteta made a mistake by bringing in Kai Havertz and David Raya. Arsenal's real problem is the striker position. Both Gabriel Jesus and Nketiah can't give Arsenal the EPL title. None of the two can guarantee you 20+ league goals in a season Edu and Arteta should have known that. Because Gabriel Jesus is Brazilian, Edu doesn't want him to lose his starting position. Because David Raya is Spanish, Arteta wants to push aside Ramsdale and put his kinsman there. Raya isn't better than Ramsdale and Gabriel Jesus can't guarantee you the goals that win you the title.

The pundits criticising Ramsdale for clapping for RAYA show who they are --- people with dark bad minds that wish others evil . They cannot fathim how Ramsdale's noble heart could be on display and Carragher even said he was hurting . Pernicious souls don't know thst good-hearted people exist. Pity!
