Ramsey hands Arsenal boost as he overcomes cramp issue ahead of Everton clash

Arsenal have been handed a boost ahead of their clash against Everton after Aaron Ramsey returned to training – but Granit Xhaka and Laurent Koscielny remain doubts.

Ramsey, who will join Juventus in the summer, struck during the win against Newcastle on Monday to help the Gunners keep their spot in the top four but had to leave the pitch with cramp late in the game.

The midfielder has been crucial to Arsenal’s recent run of form and his absence would have been a blow ahead of the Sunday’s visit to Goodison Park.

However, while manager Unai Emery admitted Xhaka and Koscielny need a late fitness test, he revealed that Ramsey had returned back to full training during Friday’s session.

He said: ‘We are waiting for tomorrow’s training because some players like Xhaka and Koscielny have today not trained with us and are working along with the physio.

‘Today, Aaron Ramsey started training normally. All the other players, they are working.’

Arsenal have won 10 in a row at the Emirates Stadium but just one of their last nine on the road.

Emery has no concerns over that run away from home and believes it is normal for teams to play better at their own ground – while remaining confident his team can pick up results in their five away league games over the rest of the season.

He said: ‘For every team it is the same. In all my career I felt and did the same, not for me because I also watch other teams and usually every team’s performance is more at home than away. Every team.

‘After this hopefully we can take our performance, the best performance and the best result away. That is our challenge.

‘The last matches in the Premier League, Huddersfield, Tottenham, was a good performance and a good result, being competitive.

‘We have to feel at the moment now we are competitive at home. We want to be the same away. The difficulty is that each match at home they can feel better.’
