Sir Jim Ratcliffe was reportedly booed by Manchester United staff at a screening of the Europa League final, as the co-owner presses ahead with the latest round of job cuts.
Man United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao on Wednesday night, missing out on silverware and qualification to next season's Champions League.
Ratcliffe was present in Bilbao for the showpiece and was seen talking to co-owner Avram Glazer and chief executive Omar Berrada pre-match.
The Ineos chief watched the final alongside Glazer and legendary Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
While club hierachy were in Bilbao, The Athletic reported that Man United also arranged a screening for staff back in Manchester at Diecast, a warehouse venue.
The report claimed both Ratcliffe and Glazer were booed when they appeared on screen, once during the match and again afterwards.
The boos come with Ratcliffe overseeing a savage redundancy programme at the club.
A total of 200 staff who are at risk of redundancy were informed in meetings earlier this month.
Eight months ago, Ratcliffe let 250 staff go, and is set to take more drastic action as part of cost-cutting measures at United.
Man United's defeat by Tottenham in the final has also seen the club miss out on a windfall which would have come with qualification to the Champions League.
Qualification would have helped the club to generate over £100m, but the club will instead be without European football entirely next season.
The mood at the screening was reportedly described as 'very sombre' after Man United's defeat.
It followed Berrada telling staff earlier this year that the second round of redundancies were based around Man United qualifying for the Europa League for the next four seasons.
Mail Sport revealed earlier this month that United's players were also furious with the club's penny-pinching for the Europa League final when it came to tickets, flights and hotels.
Ruben Amorim reportedly paid for 30 of his backroom staff and their families to attend the final out of his own pocket after United refused to hand over free tickets.

You can cut more jobs after losing Europa. Very shameful.

When Barca started their cost cutting measures some 3-4yrs back and even appeared in the Europa, rival fans were laughing and making fun. Now is the turn of United. Many of these clubs are going through a lot of hidden financial difficulties and only time will tell who will be next.
