David Raya has been mocked by fans for a 'huge mistake' against Brentford - but the Arsenal goalkeeper immediately made amends with a fantastic goal-line save.
Arsenal were trailing 1-0 in the 28th minute when Keane Lewis-Potter tried his luck for Brentford.
It should have been a routine stop for Raya but he let the ball slip through his fingers and it almost ended up in the net.
Somehow, the Spaniard plucked out an acrobatic backwards dive and clawed away the ball mid-air above the goal-line - and within a minute Gabriel Jesus had scored at the other end to cancel out Bryan Mbeumo's opener.
Raya had made amends for the error and set the Gunners on course for their goal, but users on social media had a critical response.
'Why is he shaky today? Is it because he's playing against his former team?' wrote one user on X.
'Raya clears the ball off the line after his own huge mistake,' said another.
'βGoal-line clearanceβ makes him look like a hero,' another commented.
'Goal line clearance from his own initial mistake. Wouldn't big this one up so much lmao,' another said.
One said 'this guy has no competition that is why' while another added: 'I miss (Aaron) Ramsdale.'
In the second half, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli both netted in a three-minute spell to give Arsenal a 3-1 lead and they went on to see out a vital victory.
Arsenal have the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League, having conceded 17 goals alongside Liverpool.
Only Robert Sanchez of Chelsea boasts a better save percentage in the league than Raya.
Earlier this season, he was widely praised for a sensational double-save against Atalanta in the Champions League.
First he saved a penalty from Mario Retegui in the corner and then, moments later, he hauled himself halfway across the goal to deny the headed follow-up.
'I have got to say that is one of the best saves I have ever seen, the second one,' said TNT Sports co-commentary Steve McManaman.
'That is unbelievable! How he gets up so quickly. Wow! One of the best saves I have ever seen!'

But I feel that Raya could cause us some points on the final days like ramsdale did some years ago,so Arteta have to find solution before it is too late.not every day you succeed

he is much better goalkeeper and makes few mistakes.. Have those fans seen mistakes made by Onana of Man U?...no need to complain about Raya, rather to support him..

We all make mistakes. Raya must just get his head right. We know how good he is. Anyway, that passes to Martinelli come on

I wonder why some fans are quick to criticize someone because of an error. Things happen, we should learn to accept mistakes.

Inasmuch as Raya has been exceptionally great in goal for us, we have to tell ourselves the truth that he is becoming too playful in recent times. The reason is simply because he has no competition. That was how he was being playful in our EPL game against Crystal Palace. He was not in position and had to quickly backtrack, but was still not well positioned when Sarr received the ball, and that reduced Raya's chances of saving the ball. I hope his playfulness will not eventually be too costly for us this season.
