Championship strugglers Reading are expected to sack manager Jose Gomes over the next 24 hours.
It comes after a miserable start to the season which has seen the side drop into the relegation zone after just two wins in their opening 11 Championship matches.
Gomes was only appointed as Reading manager in December 2018.
But it has been a difficult spell in charge for the Portuguese manager since he took over from Paul Clement.
The 49-year-old has won just 23.7 per cent of his matches in charge, losing 15 of the 38 games.
The Royals have lost five of their last six matches in the Championship and sit 22nd in the second-tier.
