Frank Lampard's Chelsea face an uphill task to make the Champions League semi-finals after being beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

The visitors started brightly with Joao Felix testing Thibaut Courtois inside two minutes, but Madrid started to get on top as the first half wore on as they took the lead in the 22nd minute. It was no surprise who got the opening goal, with Karim Benzema tapping home from close range after Vinicius Jnr's initial effort had been kept out by Kepa.
Things went from bad to worse just before the hour mark when Ben Chilwell was shown a straight red card for pulling back Rodrygo when he was through on goal. Madrid then grabbed a second goal in the 73rd minute as substitute Marco Asensio fired home from the edge of the area to give the Spanish giants a commanding lead to take to Stamford Bridge.

I told the guys I knw that Chelsea would never beat RM, not in a million years. Then they ask abt last time. They had an organised team, and that time was just theirs, when everything - luck especially - went on their side. But with everything neutral, such as both teams on good form, Chelsea can't beat RM. It takes a certain way of play, a certain resilience to beat RM. Barca knows better, and Villareal too, Chelsea had it then, then you can better RM, otherwise you lose. Big. Like Barca last time.
