Tottenham star Christian Eriksen is emerging as a preferred target for Real Madrid over Manchester United's Paul Pogba.
And Eriksen's form could mean Pogba missing out on his 'dream' move to the Bernabeu, according to reports from Spain.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is a known admirer of Pogba, but the La Liga giants have also been heavily linked with Eriksen and Chelsea's Eden Hazard as they look to boost their creativity following a disastrous season by the club's high standards.
And following an unremarkable performance from Pogba in Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Barcelona, the 26-year-old French ace could be the one who gets left behind.
Doubts are emerging over how Pogba could fit into Real's team, according to Spanish publication Marca, with Madrid keen not to make marquee signings that do little to improve the club's chances of toppling Barcelona in la Liga or returning to Champions League domination.
Madrid president Florentino Pérez is not as big fan of Pogba as Zidane is, and is believed to prefer a move for Eriksen, reports El Confidencial.
Eriksen, who helped set up Son Heung-Min's Champions League winner for Tottenham against Manchester City on Tuesday would slot into the Real team more easily, and with just a year left on his contract could be prised out away from north London.
With Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having stated Pogba will be at Old Trafford next season, Pérez is not keen to become embroiled in a transfer wrangle over the midfielder which could end in a fee of up to £150million.
However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is believed to be ready to hold out for £130m for Eriksen.
If Pogba stays put this summer it will be a huge boost to Solskjaer as he rebuilds his United squad for next season.

why is everybody comparing Pogba to other players. hou cannot do that. as someone who played soccer it is my opinion that Pogba is useless. he is as weak as a little girl because he is easily dispossessed. every opponent has outrun him. he is lazy and doesn't stand tough to keep the ball. he is lethargic and just wanders around the ground. he is selfish and not a team player. he has no flair for being innovative on the field. EVERYONE IS BETTER THAN POGBA

Eriksen is the better choice for the club. given the the state we are in right now....he could be the likely replacement for Kroos or even Modric...and more over just imagine if he and Hazard both come in....their chemistry is gonna be just magical
