Real Madrid grateful for pre-season tour climate change

Real Madrid have flown from Miami to Washington DC to take on Juventus in their second game on US soil and are more than being happy to be in the capital, the players and staff are happy to embrace a change in climate.

With temperatures above 30 degrees celsius and humidity being upwards of 90 percent, some of the recent training sessions had become unbearable for the squad.

The game against Manchester United was punctuated by two water breaks due to a fear of the players becoming dehydrated.

In Washington DC, thankfully, temperatures sit close to a more comfortable 20 degrees and there is less sun with humidity levels that do not even compare with those in Miami.

Champions of the summer

The International Champions Cup has become the summer tournament of Europe's biggest clubs and allows the sides to showcase their latest signings in front of new audiences and to try new things with less pressure than usual.

It also allows for the leaders of the clubs to meet and discuss potential deals and watch players they are interested in. Thus, these days in Miami have allowed Florentino Perez to share information and talk to those at the top in Manchester United, among others.

These meetings of the biggest clubs will, of course, be repeated in the Champions League once the real competitive action gets underway again.
