On August 20, 1987, Sporting Gijon and Real Madrid played in a friendly match to honour the career of Enrique Castro Gonzalez, more commonly known as Quini, and Los Blancos have since remembered that day as when Bernd Schuster played for the opposition.
After a career which saw him finish as LaLiga's top scorer on five separate occasions, Quini retired after 16 seasons in the Spanish top flight.
He spent 12 of those years with Sporting Gijon and four at Barcelona, and it was during that spell in Catalonia when he became close friends with the German.
This is why Sporting Gijon asked Schuster to play for them in this testimonial match and he agreed, something they also tried to do with Diego Maradona but the Argentine was playing in a Coppa Italia match with Napoli.
Quini left the pitch for the last time that day, with the emotion of the event getting to almost everyone in attendance, he kissed the pitch and hugged everyone who had taken part.
In terms of the football match in question, it finished 2-2 and it was to be Sporting Gijon who won the match on penalties.

How unfortunate, Schuster went to that tribute because his relationship / friendship was forged in Barca, but nothing, the presence of Madrid had to be named.

D. Enrique Castro was an example as a person, partner, professional .... for many of us a true idol, an exemplary leader. It would not be a bad idea if any of those prizes that are given take their name.

There are times when it is better to think things, that of playing a match for Quini with the team that stole the League (s) ... You should ask Sporting, what happened to them to play with the thief who took away their record and left them without winning the championship for the thefts of a lifetime. You can not be more linnet.
