Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has revealed that he told team-mate David Alaba it felt like they were already 2-0 down against Celtic after the Champions League anthem due to the 'insane' atmosphere.

The Germany international was part of the Real squad that sealed a 3-0 victory over the Scottish champions last week in their opening Champions League group game.

The 32-year-old was left in awe of the Parkhead atmosphere, as he spoke about the Celtic support in length on his podcast Einfach mal Luppen podcast, which he hosts with his brother Felix.

The five-time Champions League even labelled Parkhead as his new favourite away ground that he has visited.

Kroos said: 'I was being asked several times which (away) stadium is my favourite. And there is a new number one, I can tell you.

'Celtic Park, it has just been crazy.

'We came out and the atmosphere was good. But then the Champions League anthem came on and I thought the stadium would crash down!

'And then they did it again (after they did the Huddle).

'When we lined up for the team picture I told David Alaba 'it already feels like we are 2-0 down'. Just insane!

'The first twenty minutes they pressed incredibly on us and had chances. The fans pushed them even more.

'The fans kept going till the end, even when we scored the third, they still were pushing the team. And then they made changes near the end and the whole stadium got off their feet.

'The real special thing was, not only did they push their team, but also respect us, there was no hate.

'I am used to a lot over all those years. But this really impressed me heavily. A great experience.'

Celtic's crowd roared them on for 65 minutes before the 14-time Champions League winners Real finally found a breakthrough.

Vinicius Junior was first on target for Real in the 65th minute, before Eden Hazard drifted into the Celtic half and skipped past a challenge, laying off a lovely pass to Luka Modric.

The Croatian pulled off an outrageous outside the boot goal after a couple of ricochets inside the box.

Hazard then got his reward 13 minutes from time for his strong performance with his first European goal in 650 days and his first from open play in over five years.

Real Madrid have since also beaten RB Leipzig in the Champions League to remain unbeaten while Celtic drew 1-1 with Shakhtar Donetsk in their second group-stage fixture.
