Real Madrid starlet Dani Gomez nears Swansea loan move

Swansea City are in talks over a loan deal for Real Madrid striker Dani Gomez.

The highly-rated 20-year-old plays for Madrid's Castilla team in Spain's third division and has a prolific goalscoring record.

Gomez, a Spain U19 international, was in dispute with Madrid over a new contract last season and found himself frozen out as a consequence.

However, he renewed his contract with Madrid in July and the Spanish side want assurances he will play regularly should they consent to his move.

Swansea are eager to improve competition up front with Ollie McBurnie their only fit frontline striker at the moment.

The Scotland international has three goals in five games for the Welsh side but boss Graham Potter feels competition is needed.

The club sent Jordan Ayew, Andre Ayew and Borja Baston out on season-long loan deals in the summer, while Wilfried Bony has not played since tearing his cruciate ligament against Leicester City in February.

The 29-year-old is nearing a return to fitness, but will require time to regain sharpness after a long time out.

After five games, the Swans are 10th in Championship having amassed eight points with two wins and two draws in five games.
