Real Madrid 'target Chelsea back-up keeper Caballero to be new No.2'

Real Madrid are targeting a move for Chelsea No 2 goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

Keylor Navas wants to leave the Bernabeu rather than play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois this season.

And Zinedine Zidane is seeking Caballero as a replacement in the closing weeks of the transfer window in Spain, according to Marca.

Caballero, 38, is currently the back-up to Kepa Arrizabalaga at Stamford Bridge.

Andry Lunin and Zidane's son Luca have left Real on loan, so they are short in the goalkeeping department.

The Real boss views Caballero as a veteran safe pair of hands and he has plenty of experience in Spain.

He played for Elche and the Malaga for a combined total of nine seasons so would be able to feel comfortable in La Liga.

It remains to be seen whether Frank Lampard would allow his No 2 to leave the club, particularly has he is unable to bring in a replacement.

If Real are forced to move on from their pursuit of Caballero, Pepe Reina, Diego Benaglio and Maarten Stekelenburg are other options.
