Controversy has masked Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Valencia on Saturday night, with referee Jesus Gil Manzano blowing the full time whistle a second or two before Jude Bellingham headed home what would have been the winning goal for Los Blancos.
This infuriated Real Madrid, and especially Bellingham, who was shown a red card by Gil Manzano for his reaction. That means the English midfielder would miss next weekend’s fixture with Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu, although he could be banned for further matches depending on what Gil Manzano says in his referee’s report.
Irrespective of this, Real Madrid intend to appeal the red card shown to Bellingham, as reported that Arancha Rodriguez. It means that the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee will assess the matter during next week.
The likelihood is that Real Madrid will be notified of this decision on Wednesday or Thursday. They will be desperate to have Bellingham available for the clash with Celta, especially given that they dropped points in the La Liga title race against Valencia.

I don’t understand this noise from Madrid about the referee’s action. First on blowing the full time whistle, was it done before the allocated extra time elapsed? If that was the case then Madrid has a case but if it was done immediately the time allocated elapsed, it renders any play action after the whistle illegal and unrequited, goal scored or no goal scored. Madrid can only make a valid point if that last play was before the allocated time allowed. Mind you this is one of Laliga’s most experienced referees who knows what he is doing. In the past his actions has always benefited pro-Madrid. Madrid are making such noise because a goal was scored but if there was no goal won’t the entire team leave the pitch and move straight to the locket room?

You’re just speaking too many unnecessary English. The referee was not supposed to stop play since Real Madrid was still in possession close to the opponent’s box. He should have waited until the ball was cleared before blowing the final whistle. In the Liverpool game, assuming Hudson Odoi cleared the ball away, the referee would have ended the game because the time was elapsed but since Hudson gave the ball away, he had to wait cos Liverpool was still in possession. So the referee was wrong to blow the final whistle when Madrid was still in possession.
