Real Madrid's Sergio Reguilón could be set for Premier League move

Real Madrid will want around €25 million for Reguilón, who is currently on loan with Sevilla, with Chelsea and Arsenal currently best placed to land the talented young left back.

The future of Sergio Reguilón is looking less likely to be at Sevilla, nor, perhaps, even at Real Madrid.

Despite enjoying an impressive season on loan at the Pizjuán, the 23-year-old left back has no place in the plans of Zinedine Zidane, who will continue to place his trust in veteran Marcelo and last season’s 48-million-euro signing from Lyon, Ferland Mendy on the defensive left flank.

As such, Reguilón's wish of returning to the Bernabéu will not materialise, but he will not be short of suitors offering him the chance to keep his young career on the upward trajectory.

Sevilla, who have been delighted with his performances (he has so far played 36 games, starting 33, and provided three goals and four assists), and coach Julen Lopetegui want him to stay on. But Los Nervionenses face stiff competition from England.

Madrid are looking to fill the coffers due to the coronavirus crisis and will demand around €25 million for Reguilón, a figure that will complicate the situation for the Sevillan outfit.

Reguilón: Arsenal, Chelsea, Napoli lurking

According to what AS has learned, the Premier League looks the most likely destination for the talented young full back, with Chelsea and Arsenal as the main candidates. Chelsea, of course, would have the advantage as Reguilón's priority is to play in the Champions League. So, if he leaves a club like Sevilla and a city like Seville, the appeal of Champions League football at Stamford Bridge will be a major draw.

Chelsea also have an eye on Ben Chilwell, but Leicester would likely ask for more than €50 million for him, while Reguilón, whom they also like a lot, would cost half that figure. Indeed, Madrid are also considering the possibility of including a buy-back option in any deal for Reguilón should they want to re-acquire his services in the future.

While Spanish coach Mikel Arteta would be an influential factor for Arsenal, the fact that The Gunners have only qualified for the Europa League seemingly puts them behind Chelsea. But either way, both London clubs are best positioned to land the Madrid player, especially considering the prominent presence of Kia Joorabchian, Reguilón's new agent, in the Premier League market.

Another potential suitor who has expressed interest in recent days is Napoli. However, without the prospect of Champions League football next season (the Serie A club will compete in the Europa League) and with the Premier League big-wigs lurking, it will be a difficult operation for Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis.
