Real Valladolid snatch a point in stoppage time in Bilbao

There were dramatic scenes at the very end of Athletic Club's Saturday evening meeting with Real Valladolid, as the visitors equalised in stoppage time to earn a 1-1 draw.

Aritz Aduriz had scored a similarly late penalty at the end of the first half, but Oscar Plano cancelled it out with a 92nd minute strike.

It had been quite an even match throughout and one of few clear-cut chances.

Real Valladolid boast one of the best defences in LaLiga Santander, while Athletic Club had kept three clean sheets in their three matches under new coach Gaizka Garitano, so it was little surprise to see the defences dominate.

The Basque side were given an excellent chance, though, at the very end of the first half when Keko handled in the area and conceded a penalty.

Aduriz stepped up to the spot and surprised Jordi Masip by shooting straight away after just half a step-back.

Real Valladolid dominated possession in the second half as they looked for the equaliser and came close just after the hour mark when a shot from Plano hit the post.

Plano, though, would get and take one final chance in stoppage time as the ball dropped to him inside the area after some pinball football.

Athletic called for an offside, but Dani Garcia was standing just behind the byline and playing him on.
