Jamie Redknapp has hailed Harry Kane after the Tottenham striker finally scored his first Premier League goal of the season.
With Tottenham drawing 1-1 with Newcastle at St James' Park, Kane put his side ahead in the 22nd minute with a neat finish after latching onto a pass from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
There was some uncertainty regarding whether the goal would be ruled out for offside, but it was allowed to stand following a VAR check.
Kane had received a considerable amount of criticism, with the usually prolific forward having not scored in his previous six league appearances this season.
However, Redknapp was eager to point out that, although Kane has struggled of late, there is no doubt about his ability.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said: 'Kane comes alive once he sees Hojbjerg gets the ball and it's a lovely finish, so delicate, so cute. It's a delicious finish, just lifts it over him. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Manquillo keeps him onside, it's a brilliant run.'
Kane was the subject of interest from Manchester City in the summer transfer window but the move failed to materialise and there had been suggestions that his disappointing form had partly been due to him being frustrated about not moving to the Etihad Stadium.
However, the 28-year-old appeared to brush those concerns aside with his goal against Newcastle.
Prior to Sunday's game, Kane's only goals for Tottenham this season had come in the Carabao Cup and the Europa Conference League.
Kane will hope that after ending his wait for a league goal he will now be able to find the net with regularity in the top flight.
Last season Kane scored 23 goals for Tottenham in the Premier League.
