Report: Man City Could Sell Reijnders If Buyer Found This Summer

  /  autty

On May 12th, local time, The Telegraph reporter James Ducker analyzed the movements of Man City players this summer. If Man City can find a buyer for Reijnders this summer and introduce an upgraded replacement at the same time, they may consider selling him.

The following is Part 2

Midfielders

Rodri (Contract until 2027)

The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner had gradually recovered to his best form after a serious ACL injury, but a subsequent groin injury kept him out of the last 4 games, including the costly 3-3 draw against Everton. Real Madrid are considering bringing in the player, but his importance to Man City remains enormous. Losing him in the same summer as losing Bernardo Silva would be a heavy blow. Man City have offered him a new contract.

Conclusion: Stay

Bernardo Silva ( Contract until 2026)

The Portuguese is arguably one of the greatest signings in Premier League history. No player has made more appearances under Guardiola at Man City than he has. Now 31 years old, he will end his nine-year Blue Moon career this summer, and he may be the most difficult of this group of modern Man City legends to replace.

Conclusion: Leave

Nico Gonzalez ( Contract until 2029)

The Spanish midfielder has started sometimes and come on as a substitute under Guardiola, starting only 3 league games since the beginning of the year. Given Bernardo Silva's departure this summer and the uncertainty surrounding Rodri's future, the club must seriously consider how to handle the 24-year-old former Barcelona midfielder, as he also wants to get regular playing time.

Conclusion: Stay

Kovacic ( Contract until 2027)

The 32-year-old Croatian midfielder has been sidelined with injuries for most of the season. He has now recovered, but Man City should consider cashing in if there is a suitable buyer this summer.

Conclusion: Sell

Phillips ( Contract until 2028)

Arguably one of the most failed signings since Abu Dhabi took over Man City. The 30-year-old English midfielder has only played 7 minutes for Man City in the past two and a half years. After joining Sheffield United on loan this February, he has only made 3 appearances due to suspension and injury. He has two years left on his contract.

Conclusion: Sell

Foden ( Contract until 2027)

After two difficult seasons, the English midfielder has agreed in principle to a 4-year contract extension with Man City, which is also the club's firm support for him. His form has picked up in the past week, but the 25-year-old still needs to prove next season that he can regain his peak level.

Conclusion: Stay

Cherki ( Contract until 2030)

One of the most successful signings last summer, it can be described as excellent value. The French organizing core is an important contributor to Man City's return to the title-contending group. He has not only scored many wonderful goals, but also his performance without the ball has improved significantly as the season has progressed.

Conclusion: Stay

Reijnders ( Contract until 2030)

The Dutch midfielder was a regular starter at the beginning of the season after joining from Milan for £46.5 million, but has only started 4 league games since the beginning of the year. If Guardiola leaves, he may usher in a new life under a new coach; but if Man City can find a buyer this summer and introduce an upgraded replacement at the same time, they may also consider selling him. In any case, if he stays, he must improve his performance next season.

Conclusion: Sell

Nipan ( Contract until 2030)

The 19-year-old needs stable game time, and continuing to loan him out next season may be the best option.

Conclusion: Stay (but on loan)

Forwards

Semenyo ( Contract until 2031)

He scored 7 goals in his first 12 games after joining. However, he has only scored 1 goal in the last 11 games, and his form has declined, but the 26-year-old has indeed brought different changes to Man City's front line.

Conclusion: Stay

Savinho ( Contract until 2031)

The 22-year-old Brazilian winger has only started 5 league games this season. He is very close to joining Tottenham, and a transfer this summer may be the best option for all parties.

Conclusion: Sell

Haaland ( Contract until 2034)

He is perhaps the best center forward in the world today. The Norwegian striker signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract last January and continues to maintain an amazing scoring rate, while having a huge impact on and off the field. This season, he has scored 50 goals in 56 games for club and country.

Conclusion: Stay

Marmoush ( Contract until 2029)

The Egyptian striker has not really played up to his potential since joining for £63 million. Injuries, the African Cup of Nations and fierce competition have limited his opportunities, but the 27-year-old deserves another season to prove himself.

Conclusion: Stay

Doku ( Contract until 2028)

The only 23-year-old Belgian winger is a huge threat to any defense, and he is ending the season in excellent form. Man City are likely to renew his contract, and he may also become a key figure in the Belgian national team in the World Cup.

Conclusion: Stay

Grealish ( Contract until 2027)

Loaned to Everton last summer, but has been out injured since January. The 30-year-old English midfielder is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract with Man City and is expected to leave this summer, either on loan again or on a permanent transfer.

Conclusion: Sell

Echeverri ( Contract until 2028)

The Argentine U23 forward has been on loan at Girona since January. Continuing to loan him out next season may still be a reasonable option for the 20-year-old.

Conclusion: Stay (but on loan)
