Crystal Palace are set to receive a major boost in their bid to cling on to star man Eberechi Eze.
That's because his £68million release clause reportedly expires on Friday, after which they will be able to charge whatever they see for for him.
Arsenal are among the clubs interested in the England international, who has two years remaining on his contract.
Chelsea, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the 27-year-old forward, who scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final in May.
BBC Sport reports that his release clause expires two weeks before the start of the Premier League season, hence why it will be on Friday.
The outlet claims that Arsenal value him below the £68m fee but that chairman Steve Parish may lower his valuation as the window goes on if he fears Eze could run his deal down into the final year.
Mail Sport has reported how Arsenal are in contact with Eze's camp, but a deal will not just depend on palace's asking price.
Arsenal will need to make significant sales to open up the funds for him.
The Gunners have already signed Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Cristhian Mosquera for almost £200m in total.
Players such as Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all on the chopping block.
Their position with regard to the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules (PSR) is strong, driven by record revenues (£616m) and profits on player sales (£50m) for the year ending May 31, 2024.
It is understood the Gunners could make a loss of at least £85m and still be safe from breaching PSR rules.
However, one of the key focuses of the Kroenke family, Arsenal's owners, is sustainability and spending within their means.
That doesn't mean they will not back Arteta, but they are keen to bring in money first having only recouped around £10m this summer with the sales of Nuno Tavares and Marquinhos.

Arsenal seems like a confused team, sign Eze and play him where, trust me you don't spend north of $60m for a player of Eze caliber and stick him on the bench or play him in the Carabao or FA cup, he is a star in CP, or do they want to play him as a 10, odegaard 8 and rice 4, Wat of Zubimendi, I know you need squad depth but not at the progress of Eze, if he's signed and doesn't gets the minutes then he'll be gone in one or two season, or maybe he replaces Martinelli, But then there is Madueke another big signing let's see how it goes though just my two cent on this
eze will play the matinelli role

I worry about 2 positions:- Goalkeeper-Rays comes too far out of his goal, he is an accident waiting to happen. Clubs know this and he will regularly find players shooting from half way line, Mateta shot blind knowing he would be off his line. He should play safe if continuing with this action. Kepa is a good keeper and may soon replace him. Wide left is a problem maybe Madueke will solve it but he is better from the right side like Saka.Trossaud should be solid and we need someone like Eze or Rodrigo type player. We are reliant on our right side and need to address the left. This is an issue for me.

well said, but I'm still of the opinion that a $68m player isn't signed to come fight for positions or work harder, he's been working harder na why dem sign am Eze and Olise are very similar players, so I doubt if he's been signed to sit on the bench, but football has changed and evolved a lot, a $55m player for FA and Carabao cup, and signed to be a rotational player, most players wouldn't even sign for a club to be rotational or cup players especially when they're established
In a team like arsenal where you know that no one has sealed that Left wing, players will come with the hope that they can impress and take the position, that will then result in one of them being rotational. Same thing happens at Chelsea too, they can easily sign strikers because they don't have an established no.9, left winger or right winger so at the end whoever impresses most takes the position, the rest are rotated or loaned. And you find out that this will bring out the best in each of them, thereby helping the team perform as they all want to impress. That's what city have been doing over the years too, signs players and create competition

Well I'm not an arsenal fan, but I think, signing Eze will be very wise as it will create competition in front. For sure Jesus is leaving, then you have Gyokeres and Harvetz competiting for 9. The between Eze, Martinelli and Madueke, anyone that impresses the coach in training will take that left wing, since none of them are established, making all 3 work even harder. If Eze ends up taking that wing, Martinelli becomes his sub, the Madueke is rotated with Saka simple, and Madueke will now have Fa and Carabao on the wing giving Saka rest.
for me I feel arsenal front 6 will be Rice, Zubimendi, Odegaard, Saka, Gyokeres and Eze that's if they even sign him, cus the release clause is rumored to be expiring I think today or tomorrow, I'd have signed Eze first then negotiate with Chelsea for a lower fee for Madueke after all Chelsea wanted to sell
