Revenge is coming? Salah on IG: “We have a score to settle”

Mohamed Salah has stated his desire for retribution as this year's Champions League final was confirmed as a repeat of the 2018 showpiece between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

The Egyptian star helped the Reds progress past Villarreal in the first semi-final on Tuesday, before the Spanish giants mounted a stunning comeback to beat Manchester City in the second semi on Wednesday night.

And after Liverpool's opponents were confirmed, Salah posted bullishly across his social media ahead of the titanic clash on May 28.

He posted, on both his official Twitter and Instagram account, with the caption: 'We have a score to settle.'

His Instagram post, to his nearly 50million followers, had received more than 700,000 likes after 45 minutes, while his tweet to around 16m followers had more than 125,000 likes and more than 40,000 retweets.

Salah was carried off injured in the 2018 final after a cynical tackle from then-Real defender Sergio Ramos, who locked Salah's arm as they fell, which saw him land awkwardly and eventually be substituted off with a dislocated shoulder.

Los Blancos substitute Gareth Bale scored a superb double as his side eventually triumphed 3-1, with Liverpool's talisman absent. And Salah clearly feels he has unfinished business.

And BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand insisted he liked the 29-year-old's honesty and directness. He said: 'I like it. He's forward, he's fronted up. You can ask players and they say "Oh, I don't know, I don't care, I'm not sure..."

'He's got unfinished business with Real Madrid. He obviously had to come off with the challenge with Sergio Ramos.

'So for him that's something where his fire is burning, he'd prefer to win it against a team that beat him last time. Good luck to him.'

Salah had said on BT Sport after Tuesday's win: 'I want to play Madrid, I have to be honest. Manchester City's a real tough team, we've played against them a few times this season.

'If you ask me personally, I would prefer Madrid. We lost in the final before against them, I want to play them and hopefully we'll win.'
