Rico Lewis has agreed a new six-year contract at Manchester City — and Dutch defender Nathan Ake is set to follow suit.
Lewis’s wages will increase fivefold in a deal that is for an initial five years with an option for a sixth.
Ake, taken off during last night’s win over Bayern Munich as a precaution, is close to signing fresh terms as well.
Several European clubs had been keeping an eye on Lewis’s situation after contract negotiations started earlier this year with the 18-year-old.
Pep Guardiola said: ‘Rico is so smart and he understands everything. He is reliable in many things.
'We are really pleased he is a player from the academy. We brought him up to play the way he plays now.’
Lewis made his Premier League debut in August last year as a substitute in Man City's victory over Bournemouth.
He then became the youngest scorer on a first start in a Champions League match against Sevilla in November.
Overall, he made 23 appearances in all competitions, as Man City secured the Treble.
