Albert Riera returned to Manchester City after 13 years away to pick the brains of boss Pep Guardiola and assistant manager Mikel Arteta on Thursday afternoon.

Riera, who made 15 appearances for City back in 2006 during a brief loan spell from Espanyol, is working on gaining his coaching badges and few are better placed than Guardiola right now to pass on words of advice.

Sharing snaps of the trio in Guardiola's office, Riera was access all areas at the club's state-of-the-art training facility before heading out onto the training pitches to introduce himself to some of the players.

Spanish midfielder David Silva shook hands with Riera, both a winger and a full-back during his playing career which saw him play for Liverpool and Watford as well as City in England.

City are still running as normal at the training ground - unlike rivals who have wrapped up training for the summer - with an FA Cup final against Wembley against Watford on Saturday to prepare for.
