Rio Ferdinand critically labelled Gianluigi Donnarumma's performance against Barcelona as a 'shambles' after the PSG goalkeeper conceded three times in Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final.
A crazy game saw Barcelona take a first-half 1-0 lead before the hosts rallied to score twice, only for the Spanish visitors to strike with two brilliant finishes late on and claim a 3-2 victory.
It was an evening to forget for the Parisians Italian shot-stopper who cut a nervous figure in front of a raucuous home crowd at the Parc des Princes.
Raphinha scored his first goal in the Champions League to put the visitors ahead after pouncing on a mistake by Donnarumma that saw him fumble an attempted parry back into the path of the Brazilian winger.
Other nervous moments followed as he lacked accuracy when playing out from the back and struggled to command his penalty area at set-pieces.
Former Man United defender, Ferdinand, was stunned by the 25-year-old's showing and condemned his first half showing.
'I don't think Donnarumma covered himself in any glory at all, comes out and been a bit of a shambles.
'I think at times in the first half, a man of his experience, it's a wonderful finish on the right foot [by Raphinha].
He further claimed that the European Championship winning goalkeeper with Italy didn't use his height advantage to help PSG, adding: 'He's six-foot-seven or eight and looked like he was five foot nine coming out.
'I don't know how he loses his height but he's at sixes and sevens,' he added.
Former Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch remonstrated with Ferdinand's criticism, stating: 'Donnarumma he did really well there [with an earlier chance] because it was just one big long punt forward and he [Raphinha] went through.
'But on the on the crosses he's just all over the place. Got it totally wrong. And you know, there should have been a goal itself and he had another one just after that.
'It was just a bit shaky on the crosses,' he added.
Donnarumma's struggles continued in the second half, with him helpless to stop Raphinha's second strike, but allowing former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen to have a free header on goal to win the game after refusing to come off his line at a corner.

Donnaruma is very poor with his feet. The 2nd goal last nite resulted from his direct pass to an opponent in trying to distribute. 3 passes after, the ball was in the net. A similar howler with his feet in Madrid 2 yrs ago against Real caused PSG to lose at the UCL QF (or SF, not sure now) after they had gone 2-0 up. Last nite it wasn't just the 2nd goal. He was clearly at fault for the other 2 goals also. A modern GK not gd on the ball, poor on crosses & with questionable judgment is no gd. PSG need a new world class GK. Donnaruma has had his innings. Unfortunately a poor one. Should be on his way out in July b4 he does more havoc.

Useless Goalkeeper PSG got this coming on them Kelor Neves is miles ahead of this kid. Just a waste of height he makes silly mistakes i matches like this he did against us also. I don’t know why PSG is starting him ahead of Neves. Neur is still playing for Bayern but here’s PSG who says they want a young goalkeeper and got a foolish one with a waste of height.
