Marcus Rashford looks set to leave Manchester United for Barcelona having been dropped by Ruben Amorim and loaned out last season, and Rio Ferdinand has reacted to the situation
Rio Ferdinand has been left scratching his head over Marcus Rashford's impending departure from Manchester United. The club icon is certain that there must be more going on behind the scenes than fans know about.
Rashford, who joined United's academy at just seven years old, has made more than 400 appearances for his boyhood club. The 27-year-old looks set for a season-long loan to Barcelona after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.
He was dropped by manager Ruben Amorim last season, leading to a temporary move to Aston Villa in January. Now, it appears Rashford's time away from Manchester is set to continue with Barcelona expected to foot his wages and retain an option to make the move permanent next summer.
Following his exclusion from the squad for the Manchester derby in December, Rashford expressed his desire for a fresh challenge elsewhere. This revelation initially came as a surprise, given his longstanding association with the Red Devils.
Speaking on his YouTube channel about Rashford's impending move to Barcelona, Ferdinand said: "There must have been so much going on behind the scenes that we're just not aware of. And Marcus isn't someone who really wants to talk and do interviews, so you have to respect that.
"But I'm sure it'll come out in the wash at some point. Is it because of a lack of form? A lack of confidence? Mismanagement? Have the club failed him?
"Or is it down to him? Is there injuries we don't know about? Has he lost that desire? That form is gone and he can't rekindle it and can't get it back?
"What are the issues that have led to a young kid that's a graduate of the academy at Manchester United, which is famous for all of the great players that have come through there, that he says he wants to leave?"
Rashford is among five players, including Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia, who have been told to seek new clubs. It appears he will be the first to secure a move away from the struggling Premier League giants.
Sancho may soon follow, with a potential permanent transfer to Juventus in the works. The winger spent last season on loan at Chelsea, having struggled to replicate his best form in a United shirt.
After Rashford's omission from United's 0-0 pre-season draw against Leeds United, his team-mate Amad wished him well when asked about his impending departure.
"Well, the only thing I can say is good luck to him, but I'm more focused on United and my team," the young winger said.

This coach must be mature enough to accept reactions of players if they get subbed off or wants to play in certain matches , he must not take it personal especially on the part of Garnacho . You’re very ryt about Garnacho but not the Rashford Saga💯

Rio, the blind can see that it is Rashford who has failed the club and its fans. Walking back after losing the ball, and the other team is counter attacking, is only one of the few evidences of his lack of commitment
You are a good fun of Man U. Rashford is so lazy, he shud be doing HipHop rather than Football💯

Rashford's woes are self-inflicted. He had been doing well. Then he suddenly started sulking out of jealousy when ETH signed some forwards like Hojlund. This affected his attitude on pitch and consequently lost form. When Amorim arrived, he had not improved and Amorim just couldn't select him. Having not been selected, but having fat salaries made him to start talking of Barcelona transfer.
A smart fun u are ✅

I think that the problem is Amorim. ManUnited is not Sporting Lisbon. This club is way bigger than him. Rashford has nothing to prove. It is Amorim who is still learning on the job. How many players has Amorim fallen out in his short spell at United? All the players re suddenly bad? Rashford is not good and United handed him a long contract worth £325k per week?
the same players that are on exile also had problems with the former manager , so ask yourself this question, "why always them out a squad of over 25players?

Amorin came to MU to sack player he don't like. He is a. Fucker not manager. Only Sir Alex is the best. Mr. Jim please sack Amorin because he no nothing about football. Arsenal will beat MU at Old Trafford. No way MU can beat Arsenal if Amorin still incharge

Amorin is not a good manager for. mee 10 Hag is more better if time given. MU will go down to Championship next season because of Amorin. Frankly said all players don't like him and his tactic is lousy.

Amorim is the problem. he drove away some of the best player United ever had and insults and belittle them. however, I'm sure they will get the last laugh when he's fired later this year

The way Man U treat the players..it is digging its own grave. It is going to be just an ordinary struggling team. Might be even relegated next season.

useless amorin worst coach ever
u r the worst utd fun ever the reason most utd coaches failed to succeed at utd was because of too much player powers and that is the case with the likes of Rashford, Sancho etc Whether Amorim succeeds at utd or not, I will be happy that he has managed to sort out the rotten eggs from the squad and he is working tirelessly to install discipline and improve work rate in the squad while looking for players with low wages but big potential to fit into his style of play what else do u want from him???

all of them are paid massive sallaries, and same Rio has seen their performance.and where MU is now, so instead of putting up.new fire better to support Manager..number of these young kids have lost desire to play...look, Chelsea refused to take Sancho, Villa did nt see reason for buying below par Rashford,Garnacho is causing dressing room issues, Anthony tried at Betis but still no buyers interested perhaps something is in player, etc. Even Mainoo was going that direction, and he was sidelined at some point.

The current coach of MU is so wrong to say, these aren't just footballers, they're people, just like everyone, you can't just banish a player and say... you're not part of my plans, no, they should be a better way of communicating and reaching a best possible decision for both parties, a player and the coach.

the board members of the club don't talk to the players and they just only listening to the coaches Which is wrong even new formation is not working at all we beginning pointing to the coaches not only to the players

Behind the scenes with which manager (or someone/something else)? May be someone can say, Amorin gave him too little a time or failed to help him recover from whatever situation(s) that led to his decline in form. Remember his struggles started during the early part of of Ten Haag's reign and possibly beyond! It is possible that Rashford will do a lot better at Barca and, if that happens, only then that he may have the confidence to talk about his hitherto unknown problems. That is when the public will have some first hand info about the matter. So let's wait and see!

Players should be respectful enough to voice their grievances in the right forum. Garnacho is repeatedly indisciplined. He thinks only of himself. Not how his actions impact those around him. If he had passed to players who were in a better scoring position than him last season, we would have had a better goal average and not be in 15th position.
