Perhaps they were reminiscing over whose last-minute winner against Liverpool was the best.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand joined interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he took training ahead of Sunday's crunch clash with their bitterest rivals.
Solskjaer famously scored a stoppage time winner as United beat Liverpool 2-1 in the FA Cup fourth round en route to their historic Treble success in 1999.
And Ferdinand headed in a 90th-minute goal against Liverpool in a Premier League fixture at Old Trafford in January 2006.
Former defender Ferdinand, who played 455 times for United between 2002 and 2014, was at the club's Carrington training base on Thursday ahead of a match that will go a long way to determining both club's fortunes this season.
Liverpool are chasing their first league title in 29 years and currently trails Manchester City on goal difference alone - and with a game in hand - at the top of the Premier League.
United, meanwhile, are in fourth position as they chase a Champions League place for next season, though Arsenal and Chelsea are in hot pursuit.
Ferdinand wasn't the only old face at Carrington on Thursday, with ex-United players Viv Anderson and Mikael Silvestre also dropping by.
Solskjaer has won 11 of his first 13 matches as United's interim manager since replacing the sacked Jose Mourinho back in December.
His only defeat came against Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16, first leg of the Champions League last week.
But United returned to form in excellent fashion with a 2-0 win at Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday night, setting up a quarter-final tie with Wolves at Molineux next month.
