Rivaldo explains why Jesus will be even better for Man City next season

Gabriel Jesus could return to Manchester City a different player to the one who struggled through parts of last season, according to Brazilian legend Rivaldo.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a fine Copa America and he scored one and created one in the 2-0 semi-final success against Argentina.

That has given Brazil a final against Peru on home soil on Sunday night when Jesus is again likely to start, having proved national team manager Tite was right back to him.

But Rivaldo believes his success in the Copa America could give him plenty of confidence to take back to the Etihad.

"Gabriel Jesus has impressed me. We all know that things didn't went well for Jesus at the 2018 World Cup, as he was a regular first choice player and didn't score a single goal," Rivaldo told Betfair .

"But Tite kept his confidence in the kid and Jesus has rewarded his manager. He is still a young player with great potential and time to evolve - he will have many more opportunities.

"Jesus had a tough season, losing some importance in the Manchester City team, but Guardiola will be happy seeing him shining for the Brazilian national team and gaining confidence for next season."

City's three Brazilians will be striving for Copa America glory in the final on Sunday, with Ederson and Fernandinho also in the Selecao squad.
