Robertson: I have nothing to prove in a Liverpool shirt

Andrew Robertson responded to the disputes surrounding him after his spectacular match performance against Wolves, which helped Liverpool advance to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The questions about Robertson's next stop are vaporizing, and speculations on his potential transfer to Tottenham during the late Winter transfer window have been around for a long time. Now, Robertson gives his answer.

"I'm not sure I've got a point to prove in a Liverpool shirt. I think the fans know that I give everything every time I come on the pitch, and I hope they believe that, and I've done that for nine years now, so it's not really that. 

It's just when you get on the pitch, you just want to enjoy it. I love playing football, I love training with these lads, I love playing with them. "

"When you get the opportunity to go on the pitch, I just want to make the most of it, and I think I did that today.

The left-back position at Liverpool is quite a competition between Andrew and Kerkez this season, with the younger one starting for more Premier League and Champions League opportunities. Robertson also discussed his fidelity to his position at Liverpool in the interview.

"Look, it is what it is. Milos [Kerkez] is a fantastic left-back, [had an] unbelievable season last season at Bournemouth, took a little bit of time to settle in to a big club, which everyone does."

"But you know the club has to move forward. The lads that have been here for so long, we're not getting any younger, we're all in our 30s now and you know the replacements have to come in. We know that."

"That's what we want from the club. We want them to be ambitious and we want them to go and compete on all fronts."

"So look, you have to accept it. I've had competition my whole career and no different this season. Obviously I've not played as many games as maybe I would have liked but that's part of football. Just when you do play, you've just got to go enjoy it and I think I did that tonight."
