Newcastle's only piece of incoming transfer business looks like being the signing of Peruvian midfielder Rodrigo Vilca.
The 21-year-old is set to complete a deal worth around £250,000 from Lima-based club Deportivo Municipal and will initially train with United's Under-23s.
Vilca will become the second Peruvian to play for the Magpies following Nobby Solano, and the former favourite - now Peru's assistant manager - is an admirer of the young playmaker having seen him train with the national side.
Steve Bruce, meanwhile, told reporters over the weekend that he is unlikely to add to his squad unless an exceptional loan deal presented itself.
Winger Christian Atsu, though, is likely to be heading out of the club with Watford interested.
