Marcos Rojo will step up his return to fitness this week despite a minor setback on Friday.
The Argentine, who had not played competitively since facing France in the World Cup, came off after 54 minutes of Friday night's 1-1 draw between United U23s and Reading after complaining of a tight calf.
United U23s manager Ricky Sbragia, who had hoped to see Rojo complete 90 minutes, said the centre-back will be 'okay' after checks by medical staff.
The 28-year-old was hoping to put himself in contention to face Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday but will get treatment and rest before resuming training with next Saturday's Premier League clash with Wolves and the Carabao Cup tie with Derby County considered a more realistic target.
United will have Luke Shaw available again for their midweek trip to Switzerland after the England international was left out of Saturday's trip to Watford.
Shaw suffered a blow to the head while on international duty and did not travel with United's squad on Friday with Jose Mourinho preferring to allow him extra time to recover and train.
