Cristiano Ronaldo is 'very optimistic' he can help Portugal win the World Cup and says England also have a chance of lifting the trophy.
The 37-year-old Manchester United forward is expected to start in a star-studded line-up despite his struggles this season.
Fernando Santos' side take on Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H for a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament.
In an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV, Ronaldo said: 'I am very optimistic. We have a fantastic coach, we have a good generation of football players.
'I'm looking forward that we're going to it an amazing World Cup⦠[It's] gonna be tough. Extremely difficult. But everything is possible. But of course we're gonna compete.'
He said France, Spain, Argentina, Germany and Brazil would be the big teams to beat and smiled as he said he would retire on the spot if he helped his team to win the World Cup.
He added he thought England 'have a chance' like Portugal.
Ronaldo said he was looking forward to the challenge in Qatar.
On Piers Morgan Uncensored: 90 Minutes with Ronaldo, he added: 'Exactly they should concentrate it in, in all competitions. All the national teams, the people to be welcome in Qatar, and I see, I see a good tournament to be honest.
'I think Qatar; they are prepared. They are prepared for that, and will be weird to play in the beginning of the season. Yes. But in the same way, a challenge. I think it's to be honest, itβs good. I feel good. I feel with good energy.'
