Ronaldo pictured wearing a £425 jumper on his first day back at Man United

Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly paid the scorching weather in Manchester on Tuesday no mind after wearing an expensive jumper indoors for his return to Carrington.

Ronaldo wasted no time in hitting the ground running as he gears up to make his second United bow in just a matter of days, and was given a guided tour of the club's base today by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United released a series of photos from their meeting, where it was revealed that Ronaldo, despite the mini-heatwave the UK is currently basking in, pulled on the £425 'Loewe' jumper.

According to the Matches Fashion website, the luxury piece of clothing represents an 'artful aesthetic' and has been crafted from an 'insulating wool blend', suggesting that the material retains heat.

If that indeed proved to be the case, Ronaldo would have been set for an uncomfortable experience at Carrington, with the city enjoying highs of 28 degrees, as stated by the Met Office.

'He's wearing a jumper in 30 degrees heat,' joked one bemused social media user. 'He's not well, there is hope.'

Solskjaer and Ronaldo held a brief conversation in the manager's office, where the snaps were taken, and the superstar then took to the training field to join in with a session alongside his new team-mates.

Ahead of officially linking up with United, Ronaldo needed to spend five days in quarantine after touching down in the UK.

He took a Day 2 test on Saturday, and a Day 5 test today, meaning he was able to finish the period of isolation as part of the NHS' test to release scheme. The two negative results allowed him to head to United's complex.

Ronaldo sealed his homecoming to United after leaving Juventus, and has signed a two-year contract worth £385,000-a-week.

There is hope at the club that he will be able to make his second debut at Old Trafford this weekend against Newcastle, and Ronaldo may even start from the off, having now begun training again.

United's next fixture after Saturday comes in the Champions League against Young Boys in Switzerland, where Ronaldo will almost certainly lead the line if he misses out on the top-flight clash.

He flew out to Manchester on Thursday after a flight from Faro, Portugal, and has been accompanied by his family.

Girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and their children Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, 11, Alana Martina dos Santos Aveiro, three, Eva Maria Dos Santos, four, and Mateo Ronaldo, four will live with him.

His feeling of ecstasy after putting pen to paper at United was evident in his first sit-down with the club's in-house media channel.

'I have a fantastic history with this amazing club,' Ronaldo told United's website. 'I was there at 18 years old and of course I'm so happy to be back home after 12 years. So I'm really glad and looking forward to start my first game.

'It's the best decision that I have made it. It's a new chapter, I'm so happy and glad, and I want to carry on again, to make history, to try to help Manchester achieve great results, to win trophies and number one of them, to win great things.

'As I say before, I'm there in Manchester to help the team achieve results and the coach can count on me for whatever he wants. So I'm available for everything.'
