Cristiano Ronaldo's sister has urged him to leave the World Cup and come home to a place where he has 'all the gratitude and not ingratitude' following his demotion to Portugal's bench.
Ronaldo was visibly unhappy after being dropped for Portugal's World Cup last-16 clash with Switzerland on Tuesday, having failed to hit top form in their group-stage campaign.
Head coach Fernando Santos was also irked by his captain's furious reaction to being substituted in their final group outing against South Korea, although he insisted the decision not to start him against Switzerland was a tactical one.
In his absence, Portugal offered an exciting glimpse into the future as 21-year-old Goncalo Ramos - making his first international start - netted a hat-trick in a commanding 6-1 victory - meaning Ronaldo now faces a battle to get back into the side.
It is believed the 37-year-old even threatened to pack his bags and leave Qatar after his recent row with Santos, and Ronaldo's sister Katia Aveiro, 45, has told him to do exactly that.
In an emotional social-media post, Aveiro wrote: 'Portugal won. Thank God. New talents shone. Amazing. Are we going to win this? I believe so!!
'On the field they shouted for Ronaldo. It wasn't because Portugal was winning… And I'm not saying this. The world watched... Why is it???
'I'm glad Portugal won... (I've seen Portugal win so many times) And even this doesn't invalidate the smallness of a large part of the Portuguese people. And this is what is not right, because they continue to curse, they continue to insist on offence and ingratitude.
'Too sad with what I read and hear not here in Qatar but in my country in his country… But really sad. AND I WANTED IT SO MUCH.
'I really wanted him to come home, leave the national team and sit next to us so we could hug him and say that everything is fine, remind him of what he conquered and what home he came from.
'I really wanted him not to go there anymore, we have suffered enough (they will never know how big) you are and the little ones don't realise how huge you are…
'Come to your house. Which is where they understand you, where they embrace you. As always was. Where do you have all the gratitude. And not ingratitude.
'Thank you Ronaldo. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I really wanted to… But whatever you decide, we are with you. Until death. Thanks.'
Katia is not the only member of Ronaldo's family to hit out at Santos' decision to drop him from the Portugal side, as another of his sisters, Elma, also took aim at the head coach for 'humiliating' her brother this week.
She said on Instagram: 'It is a shame to humiliate a man who has given so much, but later I will see a lot more.'
Ronaldo's future at both club and international level is up in the air following his bitter Manchester United exit last month, with the player recently denying reports that he is set for a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.

Guys, she's just trying to gain public attention in the name of defending CR7. It's ladies stuff. Just ignore her. In fact, Portugal played better without CR7.

I think these people who are part of Ronaldo life ONLY care about Ronaldo's success. They don't care about the team Ronaldo play for, either win or lose as long as Ronaldo scores or break records they are happy. This people Ronaldo girlfriend, sisters and Ronaldo himself are butch of lunatics, self-centered egocentric maniacs, atleat they should be very happy that YOUNG Ramos became the first maybe the last to scored a hattrick at 2022 WC and more importantly Portugal really showed that they can win the world cup. NOT EVERY F* THING IS ABOUT RONALDO, HIS DAYS ARE OVER AND HE NEED TO ADMIT THAT.

And who told you he doesn’t know he is already older, you guys always judge someone wrongly. You that support Messi do you also support Argentina as a team? You support Argentina because of Messi. Does your comment make any sense?
Dude, whoever he supports is irrelevant, he is right. How can a 37 years old call it disrespect not starting a game? Do by that logic, whatever you do that he doesn't like, you're disrespecting him. Use tactics he can't suit to? Disrespect. Expect a reason why he's missing his preseason? Disrespect. Bench him? Disrespect. This is really the summit of selfishness.

You are just another unreasonable fanatic! Ronaldo has been very unproductive and unprofessional but you choose to ignore the obvious! Most of you would rather see Ronaldo score and Portugal lose! does that make any sense to you! If truly you do watch Ronaldo play you will definitely know that he should be on the beach, it's not disrespect but winning instinct.
