Salomon Rondon was left in tears after discussing his role in James McCarthy's horror injury in a TV interview.
The Newcastle loanee was playing for West Brom, his parent club, when he caught McCarthy's leg while the Everton midfielder and striker were both looking to kick the ball away.
Rondon was overcome by the emotion of the moment while he was on the pitch during the game on January 20 and his clear sympathy received praise.
The striker has since been interviewed about the injury again by Telemundo and was left in tears again when speaking about the moment.
'Life played me a bad turn because I was the one who experienced it,' he said, while crying.
'I'm crying because apart from the fact that he's a fellow professional, it was an injury that I actually felt when it happened... I'll never forget it… it was tough.
'Thanks to God, I didn't need the help of a psychologist because my family were there for me, but it's something that I never wanted to experience.
'In all of my naivety, I apologised to him, but it was totally unintentional. I didn't want it to happen and didn't think it would ever happen.'
Rondon will be hoping to feature for Newcastle this weekend when they take on Burnley in the Premier League.
He was integral to their victory against Bournemouth just prior to the international break, when he scored a double en route to a 2-1 win.
