Roy Keane has offered a typically blunt assessment of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's partial takeover at Manchester United, urging the focus to be on the pitch.
Ineos owner Ratcliffe saw his £1.3billion investment in a 25 per cent stake and control of Man United's football operations confirmed on Christmas Eve.
Keane says that anything the takeover does will be a step up from how things have been going at Old Trafford - but wants to see things focused on the football, not off-the-field issues.
Speaking ahead of Man United's FA Cup game against Wigan Athletic, Keane told ITV Sport: 'It can't be any worse than it has been over the last few years in terms of decision making, people making decisions upstairs in regard of recruitment, the fees they've been paying out, the wages they've been handing out.
'You hope there's a change of dynamics at the club, new opinions. But only time will tell.'
He believes the focus has to be on results, starting with Wigan in the FA Cup, as the victor of Monday's tie will travel to either Newport County or Eastleigh in the fourth round.
Keane said: 'Get some results, get a win tonight. We've seen the draw, it's kind of an easy tie for them. It's the only trophy they can win this season.
'Focus on the football. Hopefully decisions from upstairs will improve over the next few years.'
Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford met Man United manager Erik ten Hag and the team's leading stars at their Carrington training base on Thursday.
