Ruben Amorim expects Noussair Mazraoui and Victor Lindelof to be available for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Wolves on Sunday after both players left Old Trafford at half-time of the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon.
Mazraoui played the first half of Thursday’s second leg before leaving the stadium with United 2-0 ahead, while Lindelof was on the bench for an incredible match that finished 5-4.
It’s understood both players had to address urgent family issues which were unrelated, but Amorim indicated that the outcome was positive and Mazraoui – who was replaced by Luke Shaw against Lyon – and Lindelof will be available to face Wolves at Old Trafford.
‘Both (happened) during the game and sometimes you don't control these things,’ said the United boss. ‘Everything happened this season, but everything is okay now.
‘He (Lindelof) is available. He has personal issues like Nous, so we had to let him go but everything is okay now.
‘I know that football is really important, but there are things that are more important and then they will be ready to face the next game.’
Amorim is ready to give the younger players an opportunity in the remaining six Premier League games as he looks to rest some of his stars and make sure they are fit for the Europa League semi-final against Bilbao at the start of May.
‘Players like (Diogo) Dalot, they are always ready but today he was really tired,’ added Amorim. ‘The guys that are recent to have an injury, we will try to save them. We will see tomorrow.
‘It's not the best moment or the best season to put some kids to play because again they need a strong base to really show what they can do, but in this moment we need to do it.
‘Sometimes you have surprises. Ayden (Heaven) is ready to play, so you don't know. (Harry) Amass did really well (against Lyon), so we don't know. Chido (Obi), when he played he played quite well.
‘It's a difficult moment, it's not the right moment for the kids to play, but if we have to do it, we will do it.’
