Ryan Giggs arrested for alleged domestic violence

Ryan Giggs was arrested last Sunday night for an alleged assault of a woman. The Wales coach was taken to a police station and was subjected to several hours of questioning, before being released on bail. Police were warned of an incident at his house, as neighbours heard several noises before calling the authorities to report the episode.

"Police were called at 22:05 on Sunday to reports of a disturbance," Greater Manchester Police told The Sun. "A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries, but did not require any treatment. "A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault." Giggs has known his current partner Kate Greville since 2013 and it was five years later when they both went public with their relationship. A few months before kicking off their relationship, Giggs divorced his wife following an alleged infidelity with her sister-in-law.

Giggs' job could be in jeopardy

After the news of Giggs' arrest became official, the English media pointed out that his position as Wales national team coach could be in danger if the accusations are confirmed. Meanwhile, the Wales Football Association, which had planned a press conference to announce the players called up for the three November clashes against the United States, Finland and Ireland, cancelled the press conference in light of the allegations.

According to The Sun, the Welsh FA chiefs met on Monday night to discuss how to address Giggs' alleged behaviour. Thus, the former Manchester United legend must answer to the executive director of the Wales FA, Jonathan Ford, about the incident in which he has been allegedly involved.

Giggs' denial

On Tuesday, Giggs denied the allegations through a statement. "Mr Giggs denies all allegations of assault made against him," it started. "He is cooperating with the police and will continue to assist them with their ongoing investigations."
