Salah out for Ian Rush's Manchester City record

The winger will hope to get at least a goal in Sunday's top-of-the-log encounter to, again, emulate the Reds’ great

Mohamed Salah is set to equal a record set by Ian Rush in 1994 when Liverpool take on Manchester City in Sunday's Premier League encounter.

Salah has scored in each of the Reds’ last three meetings with Pep Guardiola's men, including in the Champions League quarter-final fixtures - on their way to the final of the elite European competition last season.

And their first 2018-19 meeting presents him a chance to once again emulate Rush who laid the marker as the first and only Liverpool player to score against the Citizens in four consecutive matches; a feat set from 1992 to 1994.

A goal against the reigning English top-flight at Anfield would also boost the confidence of the Egypt international who has yet to get into the sort of form that saw him bag a record 44 goals across all competitions in 2017-18.

The former AS Roma star has found the back of the net thrice in the league, amid some forgettable performances but will hope Sunday's fixture against the table-toppers is an exception.
