Sampdoria Coach Marco Giampaolo is reportedly Paolo Maldini’s first choice to succeed Gennaro Gattuso as Milan boss.
According to Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla, the Rossoneri legend is a big fan of Giampaolo and, if he was to take on a new role at the club, would make the Blucerchiati tactician his top target to replace Gattuso in the dugout.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis confirmed on Wednesday morning that he wanted Maldini to be the club’s new sporting director, and he is waiting for the 50-year-old’s decision.
Giampaolo has been with Samp since 2016 and has been praised for his work at the club, despite their limited budget - something the Milan hierarchy would be taking a close look at.
The former Empoli Coach has also been linked with filling the managerial vacancy at Roma.

Still not the right choice! If Milan want to get back to where they were they have to sign a very experienced coach who can rebuilt the team from scratch. Someone like Jardim, Mourinho, Conte etc
