Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal 'in principle' for Jadon Sancho to return to the German club on loan.
The two clubs have been negotiating prior to the January transfer window opening, with United favouring a permanent deal for the winger. However, Dortmund themselves have been pursuing a temporary move, with both parties having now reached a point of agreement.
According to Sky Sports News, there is a willingness from all parties involved to now complete the deal. However, no timescale or deadline has been put in place with a number of details still to be finalised.
Dortmund had been hopeful that Sancho, 23, would join their current warm-weather training camp in Marbella. However, there is 'no guarantee' that the paperwork will be signed and sealed before the end of this weekend, with the Bundesliga side returning to action away at Darmstadt 98 on January 13.
The winger arrived at Old Trafford in a £73million move in the summer of 2021, but has spent much of the 2023-24 campaign exiled from the first team squad. That followed him publicly criticising Erik ten Hag on social media after the Dutch manager revealed he did not select him for the game at Arsenal became of poor application in training.
He posted: "Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue. I have conducted myself in training very well this week."
Sancho would later delete the upload, but the episode essentially ended his senior involvement at the club. Amid reports he had refused to apologise for his actions, the ex-England player was excluded from first-team training and forced to train with the Academy players.
But he remains highly thought-of in Germany, where he previously scored 50 goals in 137 games for Dortmund over a four-year spell. His form was sufficient to force his way into the national set-up, and he signed for United after impressing at the delayed Euro 2020 competition.
His first two seasons at Manchester saw him struggle to live up to his transfer fee though. That's despite being part of the side that ended a six-year drought for silverware by winning the League Cup last season.

The squad is poor, but trying to undermine one player is unreal, the guy just defended himself he never used any abusive word towards the manager but he wants an apology just to feel big come on.... 🤷🤷
