Sansone will become the first ever Italian player in Azerbaijan

Gianluca Sansone will become the first ever Italian player in Azerbaijan after flying in to sign for Neftci Baku.

It is an interesting career twist for the 31-year-old centre-forward, who is currently a free agent after terminating his contract with Serie B side Novara in January.

According to multiple sources including Sportitalia and the Gazzetta dello Sport, Sansone is already in Azerbaijan and will sign the contract to June 2020 after a medical this morning.

He will be the first ever Italian player to sign for an Azerbaijani club.

Some of Sansone’s former teams include Sassuolo, Frosinone, Torino, Bologna and Sampdoria.
