Maurizio Sarri will stand by his assistant Marco Ianni after the Italian provoked a full-scale touchline row with Jose Mourinho during the 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.
Ianni has, however, been warned by his boss to not be a 'stupid man' and learn from the errors of his ways.
His second assistant coach Ianni celebrated in front of Mourinho after Ross Barkley's last minute equaliser, with the United manager responding by attempting to square up to Ianni near the tunnel at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri insisted his coach should apologise to Mourinho immediately after the game and the Chelsea manager repeated his condemnation after the FA charged Ianni with improper conduct.
Sarri, however, will resist calls to demote Ianni.
The Chelsea boss said: 'First of all as I said after the match, we were wrong. I was there when Marco spoke to Mr. Mourinho. He said sorry immediately. It was really very important that he realised it to be wrong.
'I want to give him another opportunity. I know the man and I know very well that was really sorry. He realised the mistake. Everyone can make a mistake but you need to learn from the mistake. He will be able to do it. As for the FA, We were wrong so we have to accept the consequences.'
Sarri urged his assistant to prove his maturity. 'Everybody has to learn from mistakes. Now as a man, I am better than when I was 35.
'Otherwise, I would be a stupid man if I cannot learn from mistakes. I made one hundred mistakes (when I was younger).'

Sarri seems a really likeable decent honest (bit like Ranieri) and clever tactical attack minded coach. Chelsea have an excellent manager!
