Manchester United's 2-0 win over Romanian champions FCSB revealed how to get the best out of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, according to pundits.
Ruben Amorim's men surged to a third consecuctive victory thanks to goals from Diogo Dalot and Mainoo in Bucharest.
Mainoo played in an advanced midfield role while Garnacho replaced Tyrell Malacia on the left flank and set up his fellow academy graduate.
One fan on X boasted that the goal was 'made in Carrington' and it was encouraging for supporters to see their side dominating and through to the last 16 automatically.
'Garnacho, I don't think he's a 10. He's at his best when he can run at the opposition. I think Mainoo as a ten in those tight areas that's where I think he's at his best,' Robbie Savage told TNT Sports.
'Look at where Garnacho is on the left hand side. When they're running at teams they're a threat.
'I don't think Kobbie is a 6 in this team. For me he is a 10 in that team. You see the run in the first half.'
Owen Hargreaves added: 'They've had plenty of games, Garnacho and Amad (Diallo) made a huge difference to the side. In the second half everyone looked way more dangerous.
'Erisken and Bruno are playing deeper, that allows Mainoo to play further forward.'
Much of the pre-match build-up had centred around Marcus Rashford’s future after he was left behind in Manchester.
United still needed a win to be certain of finishing in the top-eight or a point to virtually guarantee their progression to the last 16 without the need for a play-off.
That did not stop Ruben Amorim from making five changes, bringing in his No.2 goalkeeper Altay Bayindir as well as Mainoo, Toby Collyer, Christian Eriksen and Malacia.
It still proved to be enough against an FCSB side that only cost around £30million to assemble and lost 4-0 to Rangers in this competition.
As a result, United will come up against one of Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, AZ or FC Midtjylland.

One game against a team I'm not even sure is from this planet. Very funny
The fact you agree with with lazy analysis proves your ignorance. Playing as a ten doesn't take away your defensive responsibility in fact it adds to it cause you are the first line of defense. And a 6 is suppose to dictate the tempo of the game. So saying he plays better as a ten wen he didn't create as many chance as others is pure exaggeration

Yh. And never exaggerated any single player performance base on that. So your point is mute.
Never exaggerated . No one has exaggerated anything they just stating the obvious which is in this system/formation Maiino is not suited as a 6 N' plays better further forward where he doesn't have much defensive duties to do so where is the exaggeration in tht?? 🤔🤦🏽♂️
