Bayern Munich have progressed to the semi-finals of the German Cup thanks to a single goal by Joshua Kimmich against Schalke.
The cup holders dominated possession but Schalke had a couple of opportunities to equalise which they failed to convert.
The only difference between the two Bundesliga sides was Kimmich's fine half-volley after a corner was rebounded to him.
Bayern join fourth-tier side Saarbrucken in the final four, while Bayer Leverkusen entertain Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt are at home to Werder Bremen in Wednesday's quarter-finals.
