The German club insist they have made "no contact" with the Reds regarding a mooted deal for the 21-year-old forward
Bundesliga side Schalke 04 have denied interest in Liverpool's Dominic Solanke, after reports linking the striker with a switch to Germany.
The Englishman has fallen out of favour at Anfield in recent times, with club boss Jurgen Klopp yet to grant him a first-team team appearance this season.
The Reds have a plethora of attacking options at the moment, with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri all performing well to help fire the team to the Premier League summit.
Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Solanke are the only natural centre-forwards on the club's books, but none of them are being granted regular playing time during Liverpool's title charge.
Solanke has been heavily linked with a transfer in January, with Crystal Palace pulling out of a proposed loan deal for the youngster on Wednesday.
Schalke are another side thought to be in the running for his signature, but they too have distanced themselves from the England U-21 international.
The German club's CEO Christian Heidel has denied any interest in Solanke, as he told WAZ: "There has been no contact with Liverpool or the player."
Back in November, Klopp discussed Solanke's future on Liverpool's official website, insisting that the club would do what was best for his long-term development.
Solanke himself has said he's happy to remain patient at Anfield, insisting that Klopp "knows what he's doing" with regards to his future.
With the winter transfer window now open the Reds are free to field offers from potential suitors, but it remains to be seen whether or not they will allow Solanke to leave permanently.
Liverpool are back in Premier League action on Thursday night against Manchester City at the Etihad, where they will be hoping to extend their winning run to nine matches.
A victory could also see Klopp's men open up a 10-point lead ahead of their rivals at the top of the table, while also preserving their unbeaten league record this term.

Many may ague that Solanke is better off being on the bench than being at Chelsea and playing week in and week out on loan somewhere in some league. I say no he is now worse off than he was at Chelsea. He was the brightest of all prospects ever produced by the club and l am sure because of how he was he would either have been the first to break into the first team or would be playing on loan in the premier league this season. That l guarantee you but because his head was turned by false promises and by thinking he was ready to play yet in my opinion he wasn’t,he is paying the price of biting the hand that gave you what you are now holding on to. People would again say that it was his talents that brought him to Chelsea in the first place yet l would still say no you are wrong. Chelsea spent millions developing him to what he is now by bringing him to their world class academy and by housing him and paying for his education etc, that should be brought into account. I wish he is by now not regretting his move as he has seen the club produce similar if not better products than him, look at Tammy Abrahams the clubs bacon together with Odoi. The are still and continue to be still in everyone’s dream team but what about Selonke????he has dropped out of the radder by now and clubs are dropping out from buying or loaning him because of fitness issues, then l ask myself why should he find himself in such a situation when in a big club like Liverpool. Then the answer is he gambled too far with his lucky and it may be backfiring on him. He is now serving as an example to other young players he left behind that patience and perseverance are mothers of success. Probably he would be somewhere in a situation he enjoys better. I am not blaming Liverpool but the player himself because he is yet ready to break into that team yet. RLC remained behind and he is doing well and is now playing regularly. Only him and Chaloba decided they were better than Chelsea and where are they now?just bellow the radder.

He’s going to Bournemouth, had this confirmed by someone close to the club

This could be a really great move for both. Schalke are a big club but they really need a striker. I really hope it works out.

I can’t see Liverpool letting him go there as he’d just be on the bench every week as long as they have Wilson.

Finishing has been poor for us but fantastic for England u23 whenever he plays. Good holdup play and has a good striker’s instinct in that he gets into threatening positions and can trouble defences. It’s his final product that is lacking but for that to develop he needs game-time and confidence. But the talent is clearly there.

At least Liverpool gave him opportunities in the first team.

Schalke is great at developing young talent. Plus, experience in a different league would be great learning for him. Much rather Schalke than any other PL club.

I still reckon Solanke has a better chance of breaking into Liverpool's first team then he would have at Chelsea if he'd stayed there for 2 years and been loaned out.

Expectations at Schalke are probably higher than at Palace, though him getting out of the country where he's pretty much just another player without any bigger story or attention might be what he wants.

I was waiting for the announcement of our annual Nürnberg player, but that's okay to me as well

I mean Schalke isn't in the best position and many on the team are underperforming what i have seen. A loan for 6 months doesn't hurt much.

I thought he was already there for the remainder of the season. Maybe I’m wrong tho

I haven’t actually heard this be a part of any of our loan deals. I’ve heard it that the more they play the less you pay so they are incentivised but I don’t think any club is forced to play someone. We have a few players out on loan that haven’t really featured that much.

Liverpool regularly brings injured loanees to Melwood to check that. Not only for that reason probably.
