The former Liverpool defender feels Egypt forward, who has been prolific for the Reds, needs to stop trying to do things all on his own
Mohamed Salah has been accused of being “selfish and greedy” during Liverpool’s narrow 2-1 victory over Fulham.
The Egypt international forward drew another blank against the Cottagers to take his run without finding the target to seven games.
That is the longest barren sequence of the 26-year-old’s time at Anfield and means he remains one effort short of reaching a half-century in the Premier League for the Reds.
It appears as though that mark and an uncharacteristic drought is weighing on his mind, with Salah often trying too hard to make things happen.
Carragher believes that was the case against Fulham, with a key component in the Liverpool side doing those around him few favours in what remains a collective bid for major honours.
The former Reds defender said on Sky Sports during co-commentary duty: “He has been selfish and greedy, no doubt.
“His record for Liverpool has been outstanding in the Premier League – scoring and creating goals. Nobody has been involved in more goals this season.
“He’s been a constant threat. But two or three times he’s got to get his head up and see what’s around him.”
While Salah is enduring a dip in form, fellow frontman Sadio Mane is flourishing.
Carragher added on the buoyant 26-year-old after seeing him open the scoring inside 26 minutes on Sunday: “He does not just form man in the Premier League, he’s the form man in Europe.
“I’ve been saying from the start of this game: there’s far too much space in wide areas and Liverpool have exploited it.
“There was space for Mane to go at the full-back, space for [Andy] Robertson. It’s a great run and pass from [Roberto] Firmino and the combination between the front three is superb.”
Mane, Firmino and Salah will be back on the goal trail after the international break when Liverpool take in a testing visit from Tottenham on March 31.

Give him Time. These kind of Goal droughts happen with almost every player. Everyone is expecting too much from him he is a human unlike Messi and Ronaldo. C'mon give him some time he will be back. And those who call him a 1 season wonder , Salah is actually 2nd highest goal scorer in the league.

Salah is phenomenal player. But i have to agree with carragher, he is becoming selfish. He rans on the wing dribbles 1 or 2 players and shoots straight to the goalie. That's his whole game. He is releuctant to pass;when he pass he deliver something like a pass to mane vs Bayern. we don't care if you don't score 40 or 50 goals. Just pass and bring that fab 3 combo between mane, firmino and salah. That we want, That will give a lot of goal scoring opportunity to salah. That can win us the league.

Carraghar u r just not normal to say dis. In Liverpool the most selfish is mane if maybe today sallah didn't score 7 games in a row n trying to make it happen does not mean he is selfish. Carraghar u r da most score own goal player in the epl history so stop sitting down n vomiting everything dat came out of ur mouth. Sallah deserved respect. From arsenal fan.

How could Salah been selfish, if he got the chance, of course he will try to score, if not he will pass it to the guy who had an even greater chance to score. If he is selfish, he would ask Milner to let him take that penalty. Just let him play his game, he will score for Liverpool soon. YNWA

Wow so many critics here did we forget because of him teammate can score because he dribble and failed to score and others take advantage... Actually it is help the team to make enemy defence fall apart... At least he is not greedy like mane the difference between him and mane is he dribble and get a gap between defence and others can take advantage... While mane is reluctant to give a solid pass while other teammate was 100%have chance to score... Don't just a player by 5 games... Mane more selfish than salah that's it... No argument... And other people start to blame him but don't watch the whole week performance that's outstanding... Than it's true, people may seek bad about people that they don't want to see and put their greatness on the last line.... Lol people nowadays was close minded

The problem with Salah lately that he is under pressure and lost his confidence , all eyes are open on him as it happened with Messi on 2014 or 2015 I don’t remember exactly for 452 minutes as well as Cristiano Ronaldo 523 min in 2016 as well , but the fact is that he is still the top player in assist ranked 6 over all in pl and ranked 1 in Liverpool in assist as well he has 17 Goal this season , in General Liverpool have a problem with the midfield which they don’t create chances enough , Mane is superbe lately but he have only one assist and no one said selfish or greedy , Give the guy break and this will on Liverpool favour later , I respect so much Liverpool fans in the last match as they start chanting for Salah in the end of the Game to give his confidence back after his poor performance.

How many own goals did Carragher score against his own team that costed Liverpool PL trophy? How many wide shots did he shoot as a defender which he tried to score...It is very breaking down for him to mention that and forget to mention Sturridge his compatriot...who is worse selfish than any forwardin the country.

I do think he’s been a bit selfish, last few games especially. But honestly I can understand that as he’s under a lot of pressure and scoring would give a confidence boost not only to him but the whole team as well. It’s good to know all your forwards are in good shape and able to score. Mane is carrying the weight right now and doing a fantastic job. But Salah, even with his dip, he’s always pushing, always holding back defenders, clearing the way for the others to score, he’s an important part of most of the goals, and still 2nd on the scoring sheet. Give the guy a break and support the whole team. We are so close to accomplishing amazing things this season.
