Semedo 'was offered a contract' which would see him stay at Barca until 2025

Uncertainty surrounds Nelson Semedo's future at Barcelona.

The Portuguese arrived at Barcelona in 2017 when the club spent 30 million euros to sign him from Benfica, but with two years left on his contract it remains to be seen if he'll renew at the Camp Nou.

Even the club's own position is a little unclear.

At the start of the season there was an intention to renew his contract, but his subsequent performances raised questions.

But in early 2020 an offer to extend his deal by three seasons was made, which would see him stay until 2025.

But discussions haven't been ongoing during the current enforced break, and some media outlets are suggesting that a replacement could be sought.

Joao Cancelo's name has been mentioned, but moving Semedo on for a fee won't be easy in the post-coronavirus climate.

On top of that, Barcelona need more depth on the right as Moussa Wague is likely to remain at Nice.

Semedo is left as the only right back at the club and Sergi Roberto has had to fill in there on a number of occasions.

A medium term solution could be Real Betis' Emerson.

Both Barcelona and Betis signed him, and he'll likely join the Catalans in 2021 for six million euros, as per the agreement in place.
