Shakira says she doesn't think she'll ever find love again after release album

Shakira has confessed she doesn't think she will ever find love again after her split from former Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique.

The pair announced their split after 11 years together in June, 2022, after she learnt he had allegedly been unfaithful.

Gerard, 37, is now dating model girlfriend Clara Chia Marti, 25, after she moved into the home he used to share with the singer last August.

And now Shakira, 47, has admitted she doesn't know if she will ever find love again following her heartbreak.

Appearing on Zane Lowe's Apple Music 1 show, she said: 'I thought love would be there for ever for me, and that's one of my broken dreams. I don't know if I'd like to find that again. Probably not.'

However the Colombian singer, who released her long-awaited 12th album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran on Friday, insisted the though of growing old doesn't upset her.

She added: 'I've always been in a couple, but then when that wasn't there, and when I had to face the darkest moments of my life, friends were there and kept me together.

'I might not grow old with a partner, but I will grow old surrounded by good friends.'

Shakira also said being with Gerard, with whom she shares two sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, nine, was dragging her down and now she can focus once again on her music.

And it's not the first time the star has taken a swipe at Gerard after their relationship crumbled in 2022.

Shakira realised her ex Gerard was having an affair when she discovered a jar of strawberry jam had been eaten while she was away.

And her new 'revenge album' doesn't shy away from multiple references to Gerard and his girlfriend in the lyrics.

In her track Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53. with Argentine DJ Bizarrap, she sings: 'I'm too big for you', which appears to be a dig at her ex and his girlfriend Clara Chia Marti.

The pop star belts out 'I'm too big for you, that's why you're with someone just like you' in an apparent relationship to Gerard's romance.

In other lyrics, translated from Spanish, Shakira goes on to sing: 'This is for me to mortify you, chew and swallow so it doesn't sting, I won't return to you anymore even if you cry or beg me.

'I understood that it's not my fault that they criticize you, I only make music, sorry that I splashed you.'

Shakira previously refused to change lyrics in her new releases about her ex as she explained she has a 'right to work on my emotions through my music' and will not change her recent tracks.

In another track she shades Gerard after making reference to a 'necessary' split with an ex who is as 'cold as Christmas' in her song Monotonía.

The song, meaning Monotony in English, starts with Shakira singing in Spanish: 'It wasn't your fault, nor was it mine. It was monotony's fault. I never said anything but it hurt me. I knew this would happen.'

She then alludes to the relationship being over before it ended, singing: 'It's a necessary goodbye. What used to be incredible became routine.

'Your lips don't taste of anything to me. Now it's the complete opposite.'

Appearing to reference the end of her relationship, she says: 'You left me because of your narcissism. You forgot what you used to be.

'Distant with your attitude, and that filled me with worry. You didn't give even half. I know I gave more than you.'

Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran marks Shakira's first album in seven years and is a testament to her strength to transform the most trying experiences into precious moments.
